BLAIZE
I am an actor and physical theater artist dedicated to truthful performance, reveling in the joyful absurdity and deep anguishes of the human experience.
When I approach a character I am primarily interested in connecting to them viscerally: the skeleton, or the structures that hold a character up; the heart, or what they desire most; their gut, or their base instincts; and their lungs, or how they take in and filter the world around them. Influenced by Stanislavsky’s active analysis, my process combines deep textual investigation with physical play and experimentation to craft dynamic, embodied performances. I act to find connection to the world and the people around me. To honor this, I lead my collaborations in the rehearsal room with questions and curiosity, openness, and generosity as I strive to build community through my art. An important part of community is exchange, and in each of my projects, I aim to give something to my audience — whether that’s laughter, catharsis, a piece of myself, or just a really, really fun night at the theater.
Recent Work
Most recently, I’ve been performing in A Eulogy for Roman (drama desk nominee, 2024) with SpinCycleNYC. In this heartwarming , interactive one-person show, I portray Milo: a young NYC transplant stumbling through a eulogy for his best friend, and asking for the audience’s help in celebrating Roman. I love this show so dearly and the opportunity it grants me to build community out of strangers.
